Hovhannes Hovhannisyan has been working in the Opera Studio of Yerevan State Conservatoire as stage director nearly since its establishment 1981. The director gives young singers an excellent opportunity to work with professional vocalists and gain experience by engaging them in his staged operas. H. Hovhannisyan, due to his ability of inspiring, notices and reveals in young singers not only vocal potential but their acting capabilities as well. H. Hovhannisyan accents the individuality of the characters also focusing his attention on stylistic peculiarities of the opera. The personages take part in the actions of the opera at the same time improvising and getting in momentary touch with the audience. The different actors engaged in the opera and the changes of the atmosphere of the hall have always made Hovhannisyans performances very lively. All the above-mentioned peculiarities have given modern shade to the concept of Hovhannisyans works. H. Hovhannisyan restores the scenic and plastic peculiarities as well as musical- dynamic movements characteristic for the periods in each opera preserving firm aesthetic criterions. H. Hovhannisyans performances bespeak his mature thinking of a director, his ability of organizing an effective work and revealing the individuality of each actor. Vardan "Promethee XII" (1995) Pergolesi "La Serva Padrona" (1996) Chimarosa "Il Maestro di Capella" (1997) Haydn "Der Apotheker" (1998) Mascagni "Cavalleria Rusticana" (1999) Puccini "Sour Angelica" (2000) Rossini "Il Barbiere de Siviglia" (2004) Puccini "Gianni Skikki" (2005) At present Hovhannisyan is working on Puccini's "Il Tabarro" and Mozart's "Don Giovanni" operas which will be soon presented to the judgment of the audience.
